Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee 1000km – May 1, 2020 to August 31, 2020

Well here we go…GVRAT_MAP_JPG

I began my reboot of C25K 5 weeks ago (I’ll be entering into week 6 on Monday). I haven’t been logging many miles, just sticking to the plan. My goal is to be consistent, gradually build my endurance and avoid injury.

A friend made a post about signing up for this virtual race of 1000km. I thought they were absolutely insane. Well not entirely insane, I just didn’t know how that could be done without causing injury. I told myself there was no way I’d be able to pull that off.

Then I got to thinking….
I pulled out the trusty calculator and started figuring out the math. I’d need to complete 8.19km every…single…day…. from May 1, 2020 until August 31, 2020 in order to meet the distance and time deadline.

Totally doable.

So here’s my plan:

On my scheduled run days-  I will be keeping true to my c25k plan. Whatever distance I grab from that, I’ll continue on with a walk until I meet the 8.19km (or 10km if I’m feeling ambitious that day).

On my non run days –  I’ll be doing my workout and going for a 10km walk.

My schedule looks something like this –
M- Run   T-W/o    W-Run    T-W/o  F- Run
**Saturday and Sunday were my slack days. Those will now be filled with 8.19km to 10km walks.
I plan on getting all the walks and runs in outside. I can’t imagine being on the treadmill for that amount of time/distance. The only thing that will keep me inside is if we have a thunder/lightning storm.

So there we have it, the plan is laid out. Tomorrow it gets executed. I’m nervous, excited, and feeling a little bit crazy!

    1. I’m trying to figure out my 2 workouts a week in here. I’m not sure if i’m loading myself too much.

I’ve never done this distance consistently before. I’m open to suggestions!
